Visiting Nurse Association
VNA is the primary aging resource in the Dallas metroplex, providing both Meals on Wheels and Hospice/Palliative Care for seniors and the disabled. VNA’s complex and committed partner networks include community health providers, insurance companies, multi-level governments, faith groups, corporate volunteer teams and more. The agency wanted to extend its current three-year plan by striking a balance between continuation of strategies that work and adoption of innovations introduce during COVID-19.
As a consultant for Seeds for Change, Bergan lead their eight-month, three-year strategic planning project to group their internal and external lines of businesses into priority areas with three purposes: 1. to encourage best practices within departments, 2. to address cross-sectional approaches to service delivery and 3. to unite the different programs under one mission. Aside from the intricacies of the organization, the planning process requires managed relationships with a large and talented leadership team and staff, and a highly professional board of directors.
Working virtually and offline with the client for eight months, Bergan and her colleagues facilitated the creation of a cohesive strategic plan that attracts diverse funding streams, adopts new technology to improve client care and remote access, brands the organization as an integrative provider, and ensures best-in-class care for their patients/clients. In addition the intricacies of the organization, the planning process redefined operational vs. governance structures and strengthened working relationships between staff and board.
Professional, on task and collaborative are three descriptions I would use for Bergan Casey. She managed the Visiting Nurse Association of Texas’ strategic planning process with grace and solid process planning. She helped us meet our timeline, our process goals and objectives to create a new three plan that will carry our agency’s work forward into the future. Bergan will keep you on task and is a pleasure to work with.
